BACKGROUND
Firstly thanks to all OSS family & friends
who hepled us come this far!
The 'mighty' Operation Sound System (OSS) was
founded in Blackburn, Lancashire England in
early 1996". Tired of playing our beloved
reggae and dub via a totally inadequate in-house
and hired PA system, we took matters into our
own hands. With very little money (soundmen
never have money!), we decided that we needed
to build our own sound......
Starting from scratch, we built our first boxes
by trial and by error. Powered by whatever speakers
and amps were to hand (which were an odd mix
of various 15", 12" and 10" driver's,
horns & tweeters etc. - but "give thanks
that eventually our first sound was built.
PROGRESSION
Playing at free festivals, parties and as support
to SASQUASH (Lancashire's No1 Dub Band) and
other reggae acts passing through, OSS continued
to grow. Soon OSS established their premiership
credentials leading to prestigious events such
as JAH SHAKA in 1998, when the Zulu Warrior
met with the Norths of Englands top roots sound
systems...IRATION STEPPAS, FREEDOM MASSES &
OPERATION SOUND.
Continuing work building our 'sound', we developed
and built our unique 18" scoop bass bins.
After road tests and a couple of sessions later
we let our new sound loose in late 1999.
Nine of these scoops were used to devasting
effect in our first sound 'meetings' Vs
Axis Sound, King Cosmic and IRATION STEPPAS.
More sessions followed, each adding to our standing
& reputation. Thanks to fantastic
support over the years OSS has played alongside
and 'met' with many of the worlds respected
reggae acts & sounds including: DISCIPLES,
VIBRONICS, KING EARTHQUAKE, QUAKER CITY, ABA
SHANT-I, JAH LION SOUND, TOXIC SOUND and artist
lsuch as: CULTURE, LITTLE ROY, ZION TRAIN, NUCLEUS
ROOTS, RUFF CUTT, DADDY TEACHA, ROOTSMAN, I'N'I
ONENESS & UK PLAYERS, , , INSPERATIONAL
SOUND to name only a few (sorry fi those missed).

Just finnished building our all new bass section...

dances & sound meetings will now know...
Operation Sound are back in a fury for 2008
the soound now heavier than ever!!! & coming
to your town SOON :-)

& JA artists & nuff hi-powa amps &
sound box's fi test any sound....
OSS Selecta's and MC's don't run off their
mouth, talking down sounds inna session. We
create and maintain positive dubwise vibrations
spreading bass and love....in fact our speakers
& selection do the talking (who feels it
knows it).
Whilst many of the UK's finest vocalists &
Mc currently work alongside OSS in 2008, we
are always keen to link with fresh new singers
& MC's , Studio/dubplate & live sessions
